Obituary for Brenislaw Stanislaw "Barney" Yuodis

Brenislaw Stanislaw "Barney" Yuodis
Brenislaw Stanislaw Yuodis, 87, died peacefully on July 19th in Enfield, CT. “Barney” was born on January 9, 1929 in Somers, CT to Matthew and Mary (Baltricitis) Yuodis. He was the youngest of five children.

Barney or "Uncle Barney" as many affectionately called him, proudly served our country for 20 years (1948-1968) in the medical field of the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was stationed all over the world including Hawaii, Japan, Guam and Iceland. As a teen he took flying lessons in Simsbury and obtained his pilot's license; an accomplishment of which he was very proud. Before he was married he worked as a lumberjack in the Colorado Rockies. He loved fishing and could often be found with a child or relative angling on a pond or lake here in New England.

Barney leaves his wife of 60 years, Leslee (Feld) Yuodis, his children William Yuodis, Judy Osowiecki, Joseph Yuodis and his wife Cathy, all from CT. He also leaves four grandchildren; Becky Osowiecki, Eric Osowiecki, Sean Sullivan and Jeanette Yuodis. He had a special relationship with his nieces and nephews; Janice (Snydal) Kibbe, Sheila (Snydal) Murphy, Ann (Breyette) Moses, Corinne Breyette, Ron Breyette and Jeff Breyette and two nephews in Louisville, KY; Yogi Yuodis and Tom Yuodis. He was predeceased by his sweet daughter Antoinette, his niece Phyllis (Snydal) Pettee, his parents and his four siblings William, Matthew, and Blodie Yuodis, and Mary Breyette.

We would like to thank the staff of Blair Manor in Enfield for the exceptional care they gave Barney over the last several years. The love they showed Barney and our entire family is greatly appreciated.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Monday, July 25, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral procession will gather on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blair Manor Recreation Fund, 612 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082.
