Obituary for Alan R. Mather Sr.

Alan R. Mather, 70, of Port Charlotte, FL and former resident of Enfield passed away on April 11, 2016, in FL after a courageous battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Alan was born March 21, 1946, the son of the late Frederick and G. Edith (Snow) Mather. After high school, Alan joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. He retired from Northwest Airlines after many years. He was a proud Marine "Semper Fi" and loved his country, aviation and the airline business. He also enjoyed traveling. Alan is survived by his children, Alan Mather, Jr., Tammy Leyva and her husband, Joe, Rebekah Kirkhart, Joshua Mather and Caleb Mather; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sister, Marilyn Edwards; two former wives, Jane Hazzard and Bonnie Christofferson and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Alan was also predeceased by a brother, Ronald Mather and two sisters, Shirley Nai and Barbara Hess. There are no calling hours. Graveside services for Alan will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 11 am in Springdale Cemetery in East Windsor. Funeral services for Alan have been entrusted to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
