Millicent P. "Millie"  Witkoske (Putek)
Millicent P. "Millie" (Putek) Witkoske, 95, beloved wife of the late Arthur E. "Art" Witkoske of Enfield, entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday February 11, 2017, at her residence, comforted by her loving family. Born on March 30, 1921 in Beaver Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Amelia (Letrich) Putek. Millie has resided in Enfield for 14 years and previously lived in Stafford, CT for most of her life. She retired from the Town of Stafford at the Tax Collectors office and the Stafford Public School Systems. Millie was also the bookkeeper for the family businesses, which included Hydeville Package Store and Art’s Service Center. Millie was a nurse’s aide on the home front effort during World War II and first met her husband Art, to whom she was married 67 years, at a USO dance before he was deployed to Europe. She was a member of the Hazardville United Methodist Church and formerly belonged to the Red Hat Ladies. She loved sewing and was a leader of the 4-H Sewing Club. She leaves three daughters, Sharon Chiary of Hudson, FL, Holly McKinney and her husband, Robert of Camano Island, WA and Tami Zawistowski and her husband, Edward of East Granby; a brother Robert Putek of Gardiner, ME; four grandchildren and spouses, Holly and Roland Gagnon, Brian and Amber Chiary, Heather and Lazarus Chernik, Timothy McKinney and Cheryl Holmes; four great grandchildren, Cameron Gagnon, Morgan Chiary, Runa Chernik, Kathryn Chernik and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 11am to 1pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield (860-749-2244). A funeral service celebrating Millie's life will be held at 1pm following calling hours at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery. The family would like to thank Home & Community VNA Hospice and Companions & Homemakers for their compassionate end of life care, as well as Millie’s neighbors and friends who were so much help and comfort to her. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hazardville United Methodist Church, 330 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082.
