Obituary for Charles O. "Charlie" Locke

Charles O. "Charlie" Locke, 86, lifelong resident of Enfield, beloved husband of Gene (Young) Locke, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 8, 1930, in Stafford, CT; son of the late Chester and Mabel (King) Locke. He was employed as an electrician for the Slanetz Corporation from where he retired in 1996 he then continued to work at Bartholomew Electric. Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and was a volunteer for many years at the 4 town fair. He also enjoyed spending the summer at his "little acre" home in Sharon, Vermont. In addition to his loving wife of 59 years Gene, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Caswell and her husband Fred and Kathleen Stratton and her husband Thomas both of Enfield; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Fred and his wife Liz Caswell and Samantha and Jamie Stratton; 4 great-grandchildren, Leah, Justin, Reagan, and Noah; two brothers, Robert Locke and his wife Carol of Michigan and Edward Locke and his wife Julia of Enfield; a sister-in-law, Elsie Locke, brother-in-law, Arthur Slanetz and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Effie and a brother Chester. Relatives and friends may join the family for a visiting hour on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
