Carl J. Schiessl, Jr., 86, beloved husband of Carol (Islieb) Schiessl for 64 years, died on July 25, 2018 at his home in Windsor Locks. Born on May 12, 1932 in Hartford, Carl was the son of the late Carl Schiessl and Josephine (Kampfmann) Schiessl. While at Weaver High School, he excelled at football and baseball. After graduating, Carl served honorably in the United States Navy for four years. Upon discharge, he was employed for 36 years by Southern New England Telephone Company as a lineman, foreman, control foreman, and manager. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and UConn sports fan. Carl coached youth baseball and assisted Coach Dave Farr and the Windsor Locks High School baseball team in 2004. In 2011, Carl and Carol, a devoted Red Sox fan, received the first Fan of the Games award from the Windsor Locks Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of their ardent support of local sports teams. Carl was a devoted and active communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine and St. Mary Churches in Windsor Locks. Above all, Carl loved his family and cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Carl is survived by his children, Caren LaTorra and her husband William of Windsor Locks, Carl J.
