Condolence From: Janet E Roy
Condolence: It's hard to believe Catherine has been gone almost a year now...I know Anniversary dates are very hard;especially the first one..
Hoping that her family is coping as well as possible; you are in my prayers.I miss her very much, especially at this time of year, as our Yankees are making a run for the playoffs. I would so love to be chatting with her as we used to about them;I miss those times so very much!
Please know how much she is missed by myself and many others at St. Joseph's.I love and miss my Yankee buddy..
God Bless.
Janet

Condolence: I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to Catherine's family. I worked at St. Josephs for over 5 years as a dietary aide and became close with Catherine;I will miss our chats together forever. We formed a friendship through our love of the Yankees and how I loved all our ups and downs with the team;I have noone else to talk Yankees with as my family is all gone now.I'd bring her Three Musketeers and little gifts, sending her tons of cards and visiting when I could(I was hurt at work so haven't been there regularly for 3 years now..)When I apologized for not spending more time with her, she would say,"No,Janet-don't you worry at all!I'm just happy when you call and talk Yankees!"She was so sweet to me and always insisted we whisper when talking Yankees as she said we were the only ones and she said the other residents might get angry since they all loved the Red Sox!!! I got out my address book 2 days ago to send her a card but didn't have a stamp so was going to try to call her tomorrow night as the Yankees seem to be done for this year. I was just looking through the newspaper when I saw she had passed away and was stunned...because she allowed me to call her my honorary mom and Yankee "buddy"...I am so sorry and you will all be in my prayers.I know she's been ready to go for some time now, but I always changed the subject to baseball and she'd perk right up!She was very knowledgeable about all the players, past and present and we always tried to look at the bright side...(however she was more of a realist about them than I was...)I so wish I'd talked to her or visited again but I do know she got my last card. This is a huge lesson to me(and a very painful one)that you need to spend more time with the people you care so much about, before it's too late...and it IS too late for me but I know she'd tell me it's fine so I will take solace in that,I guess..I hope to be able to attend her service to say good-bye the only way I can now.My world will be a lonlier place now; however I WILL continue to talk to her about "our boys", as she called them and hope to feel her presence when I do. She was a wonderful friend to me and so appreciative of every little gesture of friendship.Again, you have my very deepest sympathy as I know you are all hurting...
